Diploma in Ministry Leadership (DML)
For those prospective students interested in more robust academic programming but already have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree, the Ascent College 33-credit Diploma in Ministry Leadership (DML) is a perfect fit. Most students complete this program in approximately twelve months.

Associate of Science in Ministry Leadership (ASML)
A traditional two-year degree program, the Associate of Science in Ministry Leadership is the best fit for students interested in pursuing a cost-effective foundational education in ministry leadership. This program also incorporates general education requirements to prepare students for further study toward a bachelor’s degree.

Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Leadership (BAML)
The four-year traditional Bachelor of Arts in Ministry Leadership degree program is designed to prepare students for leadership positions in a chosen field of ministry. The program not only equips students academically but also is designed to prepare students spiritually and practically with various Christian service requirements and mentoring opportunities.

Auditing Courses
Love to learn but don’t need to earn credits? No Grades. No Assignments. No Pressure.
Auditing a course at Ascent College allows you to explore and engage with class materials without having to submit any written work, complete assignments, take tests, participate in discussion boards, or receive graded evaluations. This is an excellent option for people who don’t have time to commit to college-level work but are eager to learn more about a specific topic.
Auditing courses is also a perfect fit for individuals who may already have a degree from another accredited institution and now want to supplement their current professional or ministry roles with targeted learning without needing to earn credits or satisfy any stated formal degree requirements.
And did we mention it’s incredibly affordable?
The tuition cost to audit a course is only $50 per college credit. For example, a two-credit course will cost only $100, and a three-credit course will cost only $150 as an auditor. (In case you’re not doing the math, no worries – we’ve done it for you. That’s a huge savings from our accredited tuition cost of $350 per college credit!)
Auditors must submit the non-refundable payment for any audited course in full prior to the start of the class. All required textbooks must be purchased separately and are not included in the tuition cost of the course. Audited courses are not eligible for scholarships.

MIN103 Spiritual Formation I
A foundational process to encourage spiritual growth and renewal in one’s daily relationship with God. Biblical principles of spiritual growth and development will be examined.
MIS105 Missions in the Local Church
This course will explore God’s missionary nature as revealed in His word and lived out through His people. In doing so, this course will examine the overarching redemptive narrative of Scripture, the role of the local church as sender, the current state of world evangelization, and the missionary task as carried out by those who are sent.
MIN380 Camp Ministry
This course will explore the fundamentals of Christian camp and retreat ministry. Students will learn the foundational principles that undergird Christian camp ministry best practices. This includes the themes of relationship-building, unplugging, faith-focused formational experiences, learning through outdoor activities, and topics around physical, social, and spiritual safety.
MIN465 Accessibility and Inclusivity for Children with Disabilities
This course will explore how ministry leaders can best serve children and youth with disabilities. Students will learn about the various experiences of young people with physical, neurological, and other disabilities and how to design children’s church environments that provide inclusivity, accessibility, and growth for young people with disabilities.

Looking to try out some college courses while you’re still in high school? Our Early College acceptance program gives students insight into the dynamics of college-level learning, woven into a biblical framework designed to educate and equip emerging leaders to step into ministry with purpose.
Courses are eight weeks long and cover a variety of general education and ministry topics. Beef up your transcript, and get your feet wet as you continue to explore God’s path for your life; let’s talk!
Ascent College delivers accredited academic instruction for $350 per credit hour. In addition to the first three-credit course being offered to new Early College students tuition-free, Early College program participants receive an exclusive 50% scholarship for any additional accredited courses taken during their time enrolled as Early College students. Freshman-level general education and ministry courses considered a best fit for Early College students include:
GEN102 Orientation and Library Resources (0 credits)
(required course for all students: $125 resources fee)
This course is required for every student enrolling in Ascent College in any program, taken in the first eight-week session of classes alongside other courses. This course orients students with college life and academics, and provides access and training for using Ascent College study tools and resources.
MAT115 Elements of Mathematics (3 credits)
A survey course including a review of algebra and an introduction to logic, probability and statistics, mathematical structure, problem-solving, number theory, geometry, and consumer applications.
BIB110 New Testament Survey (3 credits)
This course is a study of the nature, contents, and history of the New Testament, providing an overview of its background and key themes.
ENG105 Academic Writing and Critical Research (3 credits)
Prerequisite: ENG101
This course will focus on the fundamentals of academic writing with the goal of sharpening students’ critical thinking and writing skills, with special attention to reasoning, formulating, and developing arguments and explanations. Attention will also be paid to handling the citing of sources.
ENG101 Grammar and Composition (3 credits)
This course is a comprehensive study of English grammar designed to remedy deficiencies in the knowledge and correct use of the English language.
SCI101 Life Science (3 credits)
This course explores the fundamental characteristics of living matter from the molecular level to the ecological community with emphasis on general biological principles. Develops a basic understanding of plant and animal form, function, and relationships.
BIB150 Hermeneutics I (3 credits)
The practice of the principles of inductive Bible study with a focus on asking and answering interpretative questions of the Biblical text and on the application of the truths gained in Bible study in the preparation of sermons or lessons.
BIB105 Old Testament Survey (3 credits)
This course is a study of the nature, contents, and history of the Old Testament, providing an overview of its background and key themes.
ENG102 Composition and Literature (3 credits)
This course is a culmination of English fundamentals with emphasis on the finer points of writing through the correct use of all grammatical procedures.
COM101 Speech Communications (3 credits)
This course is a study and practice in communicating ideas competently in public speaking. Students are also given a foundation for the development of communication contexts, including dyadic and small-group communication.
MIN103 Spiritual Formation I (3 credits)
This course builds a foundational process to encourage spiritual growth and renewal in one’s daily relationship with God. Biblical principles of spiritual growth and development will be examined.
MIN104 Spiritual Formation II (3 credits)
Prerequisite: MIN103
This course is a comprehensive, integrated study of the Biblical meaning and theology of spirituality; the historical development of and the contemporary practice of spirituality that encompasses Christian faith, life, and ministry. The traditional streams of Christian spirituality will be examined by reading,r reflection, and discussion of the Christian classic writings.
Early College program participants must be sixteen (16) years of age or older and demonstrate good Christian character. Students must hold and maintain a 3.0 GPA (high school transcript required – homeschool, private, and public school welcome) and may take one course each eight-week term.
Submit a pastoral reference, personal reference, and spiritual journey essay along with your $25 application fee to be considered. Apply online today, selecting the “Early College” option.
All interested students must also complete an Early College Agreement and submit it to our Director of Admissions, Amy Barney, at abarney@ascent.edu along with your application.

Statement on Transferability of Credits and Degrees
Students should be aware that transfer of credits to other institutions is solely at the discretion of the receiving institution. Students who are considering attending Ascent College and then transferring to another college should contact the receiving institution for its policy on accepting credits from another institution.
Ascent College transfers in credit from other colleges in accordance with our Transfer Credit Policy. Credits from a postsecondary institution accredited by both the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) are transferable to Ascent College if the classes are comparable and applicable to the degree plan. Credits from other postsecondary institutions may be transferable and are evaluated on a course-by-course basis. Every effort is made by administration to transfer as many hours as possible to avoid loss of academic credit.
Please use the College Board Score Send Code 33528 when requesting AP records be sent to Ascent College.
Institutional Equivalencies
We use the Federal definition of the credit hour.
The amount of work represented in intended learning outcomes and verified by evidence of student achievement that is an institutionally established equivalence that reasonably approximates not less than:
- One (1) hour of classroom or direct faculty instruction and a minimum of two (2) hours of out-of-class student work each week for approximately fifteen weeks,
- Or at least an equivalent amount of work as required in statement one of this definition for other activities as established by an institution, including lab work, internships, practice, studio work, and other academic work leading toward the awarding of credit hours.
Face-to-Face Format (On Campus)
For each semester hour of credit, classes must include a 50-minute period with the instructor and two (2) hours of outside class work for at least fifteen weeks. One credit hour = 50 minutes of contact + 120 minutes of outside work over fifteen weeks for a total of 2,550 minutes of student effort.
Distance Education (Online)
For each semester hour of credit, classes must include three (3) hours of work per week for at least fifteen weeks. Three (3) hours include interactions with faculty, other students in online discussion forums and other formats, and additional course work outside interactive formats. One credit hour = assignments equaling 170 minutes per week over fifteen weeks for a total of 2,550 minutes of student effort.
Any Off-Cycle Course (i.e., 8-week Course)
Must be equivalent in both contact and outside work totals as a semester-length course.
