Student Services

Services

The Student Affairs Office of Ascent College (formerly Bethel College) exists to serve the needs of our students to encourage, support, and challenge them to be the Christian leaders God has called them to be. Students are encouraged to review the Student Handbook for college policies relevant to online students.

Academic Advising

All enrolled students are assigned an academic advisor. Students are requested to contact their academic advisor in the admission letter. The academic advisor and the student will monitor degree completion as the student progresses through the program.

Ascent College students are encouraged to periodically review their grades and degree audits by logging into their account on Populi.

Placement Testing

If placement testing is required, students will be provided access to the online tests. Students will be notified in the admission letter if placement testing is required.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation sessions will be taped and provided online for viewing at the online student’s convenience.

Student Assistance

If you need assistance in any aspect of college life or would like someone to pray with you, please contact us at info@ascent.edu or 703-753-2791.

Student Government

Each class of online students selects a representative to the student government. If you are interested in being nominated, please contact info@ascent.edu for more information. These online student representatives participate in the Student Government meetings via GoToMeeting.

Student ID

Online students can request a student ID by emailing info@ascent.edu and attaching a portrait picture. Your request will be verified and then processed. The student ID will be mailed to you.

Short-term Mission Trips

Online students may participate in Ascent College sponsored short-term mission trips during the summer months. Information about upcoming trips will be provided throughout the school year. Online students will follow the application process identified in these notifications.

Grievance Procedures

The Online Student Handbook provides details on the college grievance procedures. If you have any questions about this process, please contact the Student Affairs Office for more information at info@ascent.edu or 703-753-2791. Students may also contact the following agencies to lodge a complaint: The Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) 5575 S. Disability Services

The Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act impact institutions of higher learning and require reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Ascent College does not consider any disability unless the student self-declares. If the student declares such and requests accommodation, the college attempts to provide reasonable accommodation. Populi interface and features used for online courses are ADA compliant. The hardware to utilize these accommodations would be the responsibility of the student. Students need to contact the Student Affairs Office for more information at info@ascent.edu or 703-753-2791.
